Eldor Contracting Corporation Awarded Manhasset School District’s 7KW Photovoltaic System Project
Posted on: October 9th, 2012

Holtsville, NY…

sm_EldorMANHASSETEldor Contracting Corporation (Holtsville, NY, www.eldor.com), one of the New York-Tri-State area’s largest electrical contracting construction and renewable energy companies, recently completed a renewable energy project for the Manhasset Union Free School District (UFSD).  Eldor installed a 7KW photovoltaic system at the Manhasset Secondary School’s concession stand. The project was funded through a $29,250 grant from CBS EcoMedia Inc., a subsidiary of CBS Corporation (Manhattan Beach, CA, ecomedia.cbs.com), an organization which sells advertisements to companies and uses a portion of its proceeds to provide grants for projects benefitting the environment. Serving as the architect and owner’s representative for the project was John A. Grillo Architect, PC (Port Jefferson, NY, www.jagarchitect.com).

The Manhasset UFSD was selected as a grant recipient based on its ongoing commitment to saving energy and reducing energy costs. Instrumental in securing the grant was Armand G. Markarian, PE, Director of Facilities for the Manhasset UFSD. He projected the entire project costs to be covered by the grant funds and rebates from the local power authority, the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA). Over the past two years, the Manhasset UFSD completed energy saving projects reflecting energy savings of over $3.3 million. These projects were funded through an energy performance contract approved by the Board of Education in 2009.

In its role for the Manhasset UFSD’s photovoltaic system project, Eldor provided its photovoltaic system design services and electrical construction services. Additionally, Eldor   managed all coordination with LIPA. This was not Eldor’s first project for the Manhasset UFSD. The company was also contracted in 2009 for another  project.
